Irish Donkey Experience

Service Description

This unique experience savours the delights of the traditional use of donkeys in rural Ireland. Participants will find out about types of donkeys, the history of donkeys and what they were used for - example carrying turf from the bog, carting produce to market. You will tack up and yoke the donkey to the cart. You will then ride on the cart along quiet country roads enjoying the magnificent views and hearing stories of how people lived in the countryside years ago. You will have the opportunity to take over as the driver and learn how to steer around corners. Afterwards you will unhitch the donkey and return it to its field or stable. Original experience - Yes very original as this experience is not available anywhere else that I am aware of. Big hearted - International visitors will meet and chat with local people. Stories and legends - There are innumerable stories about the use of donkeys in rural Ireland. These will be both informative and entertaining.
